Placenta Encapsulation
Your placenta is an amazing and beautiful organ. It is often referred to as the 'tree of life' because the blood vessels in the placenta create a tree branching effect and, more importantly, it has an essential role in keeping your baby healthy up until birth.
While we usually give a lot of thought to pregnancy and birth, we don't usually think a great deal about our placenta and often discard it as 'waste'. Rather than just discard your placenta, you could choose to do something useful or meaningful with it. Some mothers choose to bury their placenta, some choose to have a lotus birth and, some mothers wish to gain the maximum benefit that their placenta has to offer by choosing to have it encapsulated, to suppport their baby and themselves during the early postpartum.
Consuming the placenta during the first weeks of postpartum has been shown through research to significantly increase a new mother’s milk supply*. The placenta is also a rich source of hormones, iron and zinc. Mothers who take placenta capsules in the early postpartum usually experience increased energy levels, a lift in mood and faster reduction of blood loss. It is extremely common for mother to have reduced (or absent) symptoms of the baby blues which helps to reduce the chances of developing postpartum depression.
For the majority of mothers, the idea of consuming their placenta is not a pleasant thought. Many mothers have said that, if they had known of a palatable way to consume their placenta then, they would definitely have done so. The easiest and most palatable way to consume your placenta is having your placenta put into capsule form so that you can take them daily just as you would a vitamin capsule.
When your placenta is encapsulated, it is prepared according to Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques. It is steamed, dried, ground and, put into capsules. Placenta has been, and continues to be, used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to successfully treat both fatigue and low milk supply.
Consuming your placenta in capsule form means that you can experience the benefits that your placenta has to offer for longer. Capsules are taken daily over the first weeks following the birth of your baby and full support and guidance is provided.
In addition to offering to make your placenta capsules, Kylie can assist you with other placenta related services including placenta printing, smoothies and placenta homeopathic remedies.

Kylie's placenta encapsulation services are registered as a Food Business and all encapsulations are carried out according to CIEH Food Safety guidelines and adhere to Health Protection Authority (HPA) guidance.
There are many questions about the process which have repeatedly come up for parents. Kylie has answered them in the Frequently Asked Questions section of this website. *A Scientific research study of 210 women considered to be at risk for low milk production, demonstrated that 86% of subjects experienced a significant increase in milk production within four days of ingestion.
"Having Kylie as part of our 'Birth Team' has been the ultimate Positive Birth Experience! We were introduced to many and supported through all of the choices we made throughout our pregnancy and birth. The choice to have my placenta encapsulated was an invaluable one - the capsules, without the slightest doubt, helped me immensely with energy, milk production and general strength after our son's birth. The service Kylie offered made the process extremely stress free and enjoyable - which was great news, as i am particularly squeamish! Recommended to everyone - both Kylie and Placenta Encapsulation."

"I really wanted to consume my placenta but couldn't face eating it. Placenta Encapsulation was the perfect answer. Kylie was such a pleasure to deal with this special moment and in fact, made it even more special - big thanks to her and her wonderful service and care."

"I found Kylie approachable and friendly, nothing was too much for her. I genuinely believe having my placenta encapsulated helped me greatly with my mood. I could tell when I had missed a dose, I felt heavier somehow. I can honestly say I think my recovery might have taken a different path, especially as I was at greater risk of PND. I cannot rate the benefits enough. If we have another baby I would do it again without hesitation. I also think the cord being dried and shaped into a heart has made a wonderful keepsake – some people like to keep the cord and clamp – I have something more beautiful. Thank you for everything."
