Birth Doula
What you can expect:
- Minimum of three home visits during pregnancy. You are also welcome to visit Kylie at her home if you wish to have a rummage through her birthing books! The focus of these sessions depends on your individual needs but may include breathing techniques, positions for birthing, working through the birth choices available to you and exploring your preferences. Worries and fears during pregnancy may be explored through specific activities such as birth art and visualisation.
- Throughout your pregnancy Kylie encourages you to contact her as necessary for additional support by telephone or email
- Access to Kylie's birth resources; including books, birthing balls, CD's and DVD's
- Kylie will go on-call for you from two weeks prior to your baby's extimated due date until your baby is born. During this time you are Kylie's highest priority, she is available to come to you during labour at any time of the day or night.
- Continuous support throughout labour and the birth of your baby.
- Massage during labour (only organic oils and waxes used).
- One postnatal visit in the first days after giving birth. This visit is commonly used for talking through birth experiences, supporting with breastfeeding and helping with practical jobs that need to be done to help the new mother stay rested.
- 12 free additional hours of postpartum doula support (four visits at 3 hours per visit) over the first month postpartum. These visits have a value of £120.
- Placenta Encapsulation services are offered to Birth Doula clients at a reduced fee.
During your pregnancy we will explore what is important to you as well as what types of support you feel that you might need during labour, birth and the postpartum. We will prepare and focus on your prefered type of birth experience as well as explore other available options.
A Birth Doula can support you in a range of ways to increase your comfort and help you stay 'in the zone' during labour. This could include helping you to explore positions for birthing, managing the environment to support the natural physiology of birth, working through worries, massage or helping with breathing techniques.
Kylie provides continuous support throughout your labour and will not leave you until you feel ready for her to do so.
