Birth Preparation Sessions

Preparing for Birth

Birth preparation sessions provide parents with some dedicated time to explore their feelings, fears and desires about pregnancy, labour and parenthood. By gaining information parents can be empowered to make choices that suit their needs.

One of the most common fears of childbirth is fear of pain. During the sessions a range of natural pain coping strategies are practiced, helping you to find the ones that work best. Once you know which methods work best for you, you can be supported in learning how to develop its use further through regular practice. Information about other pain relief methods are also discussed and explored, giving you the information you need to be able to make an informed choice.

Some of the topics that can be covered in birth preparation sessions include the birth environment, hormones of birth, birthing positions, the mothers rights, common interventions, the birth plan, breastfeeding and postnatal issues.

To support you on your journey into motherhood, a range of approaches and methods are combined, including relaxation and visualisation, breathwork, birth art and tools from ‘Birthing From Within’ ®.

Sessions can be arranged on an individual or group basis.
